SyncNut

Terms of use

Last updated October 25, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and SyncNut (“we”, “us”) about your use of the SyncNut website and web app (the “service”). By using the service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it. If you use SyncNut for a company, you're agreeing on its behalf and confirm you're allowed to.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to them for you.

What SyncNut does

SyncNut analyses the sound in media files you choose, on your own computer, and creates a timeline file for your editing software. Your media is processed in your browser and isn't uploaded to us. Our Privacy Policy explains what little data we do handle.

Early access

SyncNut is in early access. It's free to use, and features, limits and supported formats may change, be added or be removed as we develop it. We may also introduce paid plans. If we do, we'll say clearly on the site what stays free, and we won't charge you for anything without your agreement.

Your files and content

You keep all rights to your media, timelines and projects. Because they stay on your computer, we don't receive them and claim no rights in them. You're responsible for having the right to use the media you load into SyncNut.

Check your results

Automatic sync is reliable but not infallible, especially when clips share little or no sound or a camera's clock is wrong. Always review a synced timeline before you rely on it or deliver work made with it. SyncNut only reads your media and never changes or moves it, but keep backups of your projects as you normally would.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

Our rights

The SyncNut name, logo, website and software belong to us, apart from the open-source parts listed below. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service under these terms. Feedback and suggestions you send us are welcome, and we may use them without owing you anything.

Open-source software

SyncNut includes open-source software that is licensed to you under its own license, which these terms don't limit. In particular, it uses FFmpeg through ffmpeg.wasm, which are available, with their source code, under the GNU GPL or LGPL.

Paid plans

No paid plan is on sale yet. When one is, it will be sold through a payment provider that acts as the merchant of record and handles billing, taxes and receipts, and the price, billing period, renewal and cancellation terms will be shown before you buy. A Pro license will be for one person, on their own computers; please don't share or resell license keys.

Availability and changes

We work to keep SyncNut available, but we don't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or stop the service, or any part of it, at any time. Since your files stay on your computer, stopping the service never affects your media or the timelines you've already downloaded.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, time or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US $50.

Some places don't allow certain warranties to be excluded or liability to be limited, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of media you used with SyncNut without the right to, or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, to the extent the law allows.

Ending your use

You can stop using SyncNut at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. The sections on your content, our rights, open-source software, no warranty, limitation of liability and indemnity continue to apply after that.

Trademarks

DaVinci Resolve is a trademark of Blackmagic Design Pty. Ltd. Premiere Pro is a trademark of Adobe Inc. Final Cut Pro is a trademark of Apple Inc. SyncNut is an independent product and isn't affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by these companies.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as SyncNut develops. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll also show a notice on the site. If you keep using SyncNut after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.

General

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part straight away, we haven't given up the right to do so later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours as part of a sale or reorganisation of the service.
